Pete J. Maldonado, 85, was born July 11, 1931, passed away on June 2, 2017. Husband to Margaret Maldonado and the late Florine Maldonado. Father to Ken Maldonado (Loretta), Kathy Melonas, Randy Maldonado, Kelly Maldonado (Raquel), Carol Maldonado (Rick Anderson), Mark Maldonado (Marsha), Julian Santistevan (Sandy), Jerome Santistevan (Krista) and Jason Santistevan. He leaves behind his brother, Conrad Maldonado; sisters, Rosella MacAnally, Stella Martinez and Donna Aguirre; his beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pete spent his life running his cattle ranch west of Walsenbug, along with raising his children and working at the Allen Mine. He belonged to the Eagles Aerie No. 1187, the Latino Club and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed eating lunch with his friends at the Walsenburg Senior Citizen Center. Since he was born in this community, he had many friends, and he will be greatly missed. Viewing will be 3 to 6 p.m., June 6, 2017, at Boies-Ortega Funeral Home. Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. with a Mass to follow at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at St. Mary's Church, Walsenburg, Colorado.
