Obituary for Thomas Strickland

Thomas James Strickland was born June 13th, 1983 in Aurora, Colorado and sadly left this earth May 3rd, 2023, peacefully at home in Walsenburg, Colorado from a short but tough battle from liver disease. He is survived by his mother Cindy Strickland, wife Emily Strickland, son Jimmy Strickland, stepson William Beverly, Step daughter Amelia Beverly and many other extended family members.
Thomas’s life journey for himself began when he served in the Unites States Army from October 2nd, 2001 to November 23rd, 2004 as a Tank Mechanic Specialist serving in both Kuwait and Iraq. He is also survived by many veteran friends he served with that he would call family, that will dearly miss him as well. This journey through serving his country was a monumental milestone that forever changed his life.
He married his wife Emily Strickland on July 4th, 2013, they were together for 13 years and happily married for 10 years. He had his first son Jimmy James Strickland on October 10th, 2014, to which he was so proud. He loved his son more than anything in the world.
Before he passed, he was working on his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Colorado Technical University. His dream was to become a therapist or consoler to help other veterans like himself get through the tough battles that they faced. He also previously attended Pickens Technical College and received his Master Machinist Certificate.
Thomas was a funny, loving, smart and caring person. He had so many close friends and family that will dearly miss him. He enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing, shooting and especially taking his boats out. He was so smart and loved to learn and read and talk to people.
Services will be held in the coming weeks at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs. Arrangements by Boies-Ortega Funeral Home.
