Obituary for Stella M. Martinez
Stella M. Martinez (97) passed away December 3, 2022 in Brighton, Colorado. Born May 15, 1925, in Walsenburg, she was a lifetime resident until a recent need for nursing care at Avamere Rehabilitation Center in Brighton where she could be closer to family.
Besides being a housewife and taking care of her family, she was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic church and the Eagles. She also loved to bowl, bake, make jelly and wine.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Tobias and Sedalia Maldonado; her husband Roy Martinez and grandson Robert Goemmer.
Missing her terribly are her children Roy (Maria) Martinez, LaVerne (Bill) Lohringel, Dale Martinez, Sharon (Clint) Reed; her grandchildren Alan (Patty) Martinez, Michelle Martinez, Roy (Jenny) Martinez, Ellene (Duke) Hernandez, Dana Simpson, Lon (Caramie) Goemmer, as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church this Friday, December 9th with viewing at 9:00 a.m., Rosary at 9:30 and funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at North St. Mary Cemetery with reception following Delaney Hall. Please join the family in celebrating Stella’s long and prosperous life. Arrangements made by Boies Ortega Funeral Home.
