Obituary for Roberta Krier

Roberta Lee (Micheli) Krier
03-24-1938 ~ 10-01-2020
Lifelong Walsenburg resident Roberta Krier passed away in Colorado Springs, CO October 1, 2020. Roberta was born on March 24, 1938 in Rugby, Colorado to Amelia and James Micheli. She attended school in Walsenburg, graduated from St. Mary High School in 1956 and went on to earn her degree at Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, KS.
Roberta married her high school sweetheart, Ken Krier, on November 18, 1961 and worked at the Huerfano County Memorial Hospital as well as the Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center for many years as a lab technician.
She is survived by her five children, Renea McGee of Phoenix, AZ, Shawn (Lisa) Krier of Highlands Ranch, CO, Kallie (Scott) Pivonka of Colorado Springs, CO, Shane (Kristie) Krier of Castle Pines, CO, and Nicole Krier of Aurora, CO., her grandchildren, Connor and Collin McGee of Phoenix, AZ, Emma and Brady Krier of Highlands Ranch, CO, Autumn, Jacob, and Paige Pivonka of Colorado Springs, CO, Karsen and Noah Krier of Castle Pines, Co.
Roberta is also survived by her brothers Dennis (Pat) Micheli & Gary (Karen) Micheli of Pueblo, CO.
Roberta dedicated her life to being an amazing mother and valued her family (and her pets) with all the love she possessed. She was forever an animal lover and when she wasn’t caring for one of her children, she was taking care of a stray cat, injured dog or collecting eggs from her beloved ducks.
Walsenburg residents will remember the days long Muscular Dystrophy Carnivals held in the Krier family yard. Roberta organized these annual events with an army of school children and raised significant amounts for the cause that was always near and dear to her heart.
She proved that you don’t need to pursue some great calling beyond loving the people, animals & nature around you, to make a beautiful impact on the world.
Prayer Service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 16, 2020 at St. Mary Catholic Church, followed by internment at North St. Mary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Roberta’s memory to the Muscular Dystrophy Association online at www.mda.donordrive.com
