Phillip Nerio Valdez Jr. (Bimbo) was born on August 21, 1954 to Phillip Nerio Valdez Sr. and Ida Mae
Martin. Shortly after graduating from Walsenburg High School he enlisted in the United States Marine
Corp. where he underwent in a military job specialty; undergoing jungle training and repelling at Northern
training area; Okinawa he boarded the ship USS New Orleans that took on a tour of the Philippine Islands,
Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Thailand. Bimbo was proud to be a Marine and to have served his
country. His famous saying was “GOD owned his soul, but the Marine Corp. owned his ass”. Bimbo was a
man of many talents. He was an extraordinary artist who loved to draw and make beautiful art. The things
he loved to do were spend time with his family and friends, ride his motorcycle, take his pit-bull Blue for
long walks, travel, play baseball, racquetball, fish, and listen to live entertainment. Everyone who knew
Bimbo knew he had a great sense of humor and a contagious smile. He will be dearly missed, but his
memory will live on forever in our hearts.
Bimbo is preceded in death by his Grandparents Raymundo Vigil and Teresina Vigil, Father, Phillip Nerio
Valdez Sr., and his special cousins Anthony and Pat Valdez.
Bimbo is survived by his Mother, Ida Mae Martin, and wife, Sylvia Valdez
Children: Phillip N. Valdez III (Syrena), Desirea Perrino (Jeremiah), and Tazareth Valdez-Martin.
Grandchildren: Elijah Valdez (Amanda), Phillip Valdez IV (Shanoah), Harmonee Valdez (Dylan), Josslyn
Valdez, Syrenitee Valdez, Anerys, Andres, Izaak Perrino (Mariana), J.J. Perrino, and Haylea Perrino
Great Grandchildren: Talia Valdez and Waylan Perrino.
Also survived by his Step Mother Dora Valdez and his siblings Ruben, Michelle, Sherry, Carla, Kevin,
Missy, Helen, and Eric, and half Sister Pat Pineda.
On Friday April 12th, 2024, family and friends will meet at Boies Ortega funeral home at 10:00 am; 115 E.
5 th Street, Walsenburg, CO, 81089, and proceed to the grave side service @Sand Arroyo Cemetery that will
be conducted at 11:00 am.
The family would like to honor special pallbearers, Raymond Phillip Valdez, Steve Garcia, Jimmy Ray
Garcia, Art Cruz, Ben Trujillo, Joseph Martinez and his favorite grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank our family and friends for their kind gestures, thoughts, prayers, food and
cards, during this difficult time. Please join the family for a celebration of life following the graveside
