Obituary for Natividad Valdez

Natividad Evangeline Valdez also known as Nattie. Born December 25, 1933, in Walsenburg, Colorado to Jose Ofelio Medina and Rosita Bedan Medina. Natividad lived with her parents and siblings in the Walsenburg area of Chico or Cemetery Hill. Natividad graduated from Huerfano High School.
On July 2, 1956 Natividad married Jacob “Jake” Valdez and raised seven children. Natividad was active as a Girl Scout leader, enjoyed playing sports with her kids, loved being outside in her yard and garden, singing with her kids and grandchildren, loved watching the Denver Broncos, and Colorado Rockies, and going for rides to the ranch.
Natividad passed away peacefully on May 6, 2022 at the Colorado States Veterans Home in Walsenburg, Colorado.
Natividad is preceded in death by her parents, maternal grandparents Juan Bautista and Solome Gonzales Bedan, paternal grandparents Jose del Carmen and Marina Montoya Medina, her husband Jake Valdez, sisters Anita Vigil and Mary Ines Medina.
Natividad is survived by her children Stephanie Valdez Denver CO, Barbara (Steve) Herrera Pueblo CO, Regina Deyne Pueblo CO, Arthur (Rebecca) Valdez Walsenburg CO, Paul (Dawn) Valdez Walsenburg CO, Benito “Ben” Valdez Pueblo CO, Patricia (Clyde) Vigil Pueblo CO, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Dolores “Dee” Gonzales and Lori Vigil both of whom she loved like daughters.
Also survived by sister Pricilla Cora (Alfonso) Velasquez Riverside CA, Patricia (Byrdell) Ortega Riverside CA, Rose Ernestine (Narciso “Nark”) Trujillo Pueblo CO, Albert (Betty) Medina Walsenburg CO, and Rebecca Marina Medina San Antonio TX.
A special thank you to the Spanish Peaks Veterans Home and entire staff for their excellent care of our mother and Orpha Tenorio for all her help in our time of need!
Celebration of life to be held on July 9, 2022 at the Eagles Hall 614 Main Street Walsenburg, Co at 2 p.m. with burial to follow at the Valdez Cemetery off Highway 10 east of the city.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made in Nattie’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado. Arrangements made by Boies-Ortega Funeral Home.
