Obituary for Marjie Stroh

Marjie J. Stroh: 3/25/1925 - 10/14/2020, age 95

Born in Burlington, Colorado, to Douglas and Ethel Ryan, Marjie was raised in various places including Lake George, Manitou Springs, and Parker, Colorado, and graduated from High School in Parker. Following graduation, she married John C. (Jack) Stroh, to whom she was married for 68 years. They farmed and ranched in the Kiowa/ Elizabeth area, then settled south of Fort Morgan, Colorado, where they lived for 25 years. They bought a ranch northeast of Walsenburg, Colorado, in 1958, which was operated by their partners, Louis and Jerry Schmidt, until 1972 when Jack and Marjie moved to the Huerfano County ranch, managing it themselves. In 1972 they sold the Fort Morgan ranch and lived continuously in Huerfano County from that time until the present. Continuing the operation of the ranch, they moved into the town of Walsenburg in 1990, where Jack passed away in 2012 at age 91.
In addition to helping on the ranch and raising her children, Marjie was a wonderful cook and baker, an incredible seamstress, was artistic, a pianist, and sang in her church choir. She was an active member of United Church of Walsenburg as long as she was able. She also taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. She always raised a garden and did lots of canning. Marjie was the definition of a true homemaker.
Marjie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Pat, her husband Jack and her granddaughter, Angela. She is survived by her brother Mike (Mary) Ryan, her children Karen (Bob) Tripp, John (Faye) Stroh, Paul (Linda) Stroh and David (Randi) Stroh, 13 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and several great, great grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
As a born-again Christian, Marjie was well-grounded in her faith and strong in her commitment to God and Jesus Christ, and passed on her love of God and her Lord Jesus to all she knew, loved, and met in this world. Family was her focus and main concern on this earth; everyone she met became family to her.

Services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements made by Boies-Ortega Funeral Home.
