Obituary for Louis P Vezzani

Louis P. Vezzani, 90 of Walsenburg, passed away at the Veterans Nursing Home in Walsenburg with his family at his side on March 6, 2020. He was born in Pryor, Colorado on December 2, 1929 to Massimo and Jennie (Pugnetti) Vezzani. He was the loving husband of Evelyn (Chelon) Vezzani with whom he shared 65 years of wonderful marriage. He is survived by his wife, son, Gary Vezzani, daughters, Diane Vezzani-Stinnette, Lindy (Wade) Mortensen, Caren Vezzani, Cheryl (Patrick) Sherwood, Carol (Timothy) Benedict, brothers, Lindo (Sharron) Vezzani and Max (Sharon) Vezzani and long time friend, Jim Fortarell, Grandchildren, Gary R. (Kristina) Vezzani, Michelle (Heath) Andreatta, Dillon Stinnette, Amber (Brian) Ullery, Annie (Andy) Rice, Marcus (Erika) Mortensen, Ryan (Megan) Mortensen, Jess Mortensen, Jenna Pritekel, Brooke, Lane and Seth Sherwood, Taylor and Bryson Benedict and numerous great grand-children and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Mary Vigna and Clara Quartiero and Brother, Larry Vezzani.

Louis' life was centered around his family and he was the proud owner of Walsenburg Sand and Gravel for 55 years. He was a proud Army Veteran who served as Master Sargent in the Korean War from 1951-1953.

In lieu of food and flowers, please send donations in his name to Sister Carol in care of St. Mary Catholic Church at 121 E. 7th Street, Walsenburg, CO 81089. A celebration of Louis' life will be held Friday, March 13th at St. Mary Catholic Church in Walsenburg. Rosary will be at 9:00 a.m. and funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow the funeral mass at North St. Mary Cemetery with military honors. Dinner will be served at St. Mary Delany Hall following the graveside service.
