Obituary

Julia Eileen (Judi) Shaw passed away December 27, 2019. She was born on September 1, 1944 at St. Mary Hospital in Pueblo, Colorado while her father, Leonard Reis, was in Germany in WWII. Her mother is Mary Jean Reis. Judi grew up on the family ranch in Westcliffe, Colorado. She graduated high school at Westcliffe in 1962, and from airline hostess school in Kansas City, Kansas in 1964. She married Jerry Shaw on March 15, 1964. They raised two daughters; Robert Lyn (Bobbi) and Jeryl Kay (Jeri). Judi loved nature and the outdoors. She connected well with most animals and fed any that came around, (including some pet skunks when she was a girl). She could name many species of birds that came around. She had a green thumb for flowers and was a good gardner. Judi worked at a Stuckey's store, Loaf'N Jug, and Clark's Western Wear, as well as a grocery store in Colorado City. As a rancher's wife, she fed the crew and worked in the pens with the crew at times. Judi is survived by her husband of over 55 years; her daughter Bobbi Shaw Brown (Reggie) and Jeri Urban (Ron); grandkids, Maliah Shaw, Justin Uran, Rebekah Johnson (Cullen); and great grandkids, Eiden and Axel Shaw; and her sister Marilyn Johnson (Russ). She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Pat Zachary, grandson Tay Shaw, and niece Wendy Bouchard. Judi accepted Christ as Savior and lived her life for him. Burial will be at Rosita Cemetery at 11 am on January 2, 2020. A Memorial Service will be held at the community center in Walsenburg at 11 am on January 11, 2020.
