Irene Garcia Obituary – Sunset 10.30.2020
Irene Garcia was called to rest on October 30, 2020. Irene was 75 years old. She attended elementary, and middle schools, then graduated from Walsenburg High School in 1963. She was a lifelong resident of Walsenburg and held numerous jobs serving her community.
She met the love of her life and married Rudy Garcia on August 1, 1987. Together they owned Garcia Liquors and operated that business until 2002. Some of her hobbies included bowling, visiting numerous casinos, and traveling. She loved to walk and now she is able to continue that walk freely. Her family meant everything to her, and she loved each one with all her heart. Irene was well grounded in her faith and strong in her commitment to God. She above all was a loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother.
Irene is survived by her loving and caring husband Rudy Garcia; her children Kelly (Lon) Spann, Mike Garcia, Debbie Garcia; her brother Mike Abeyta; her grandchildren Kamryn Spann, Eyonne Rodriguez; great grandchildren Jeremiah and Danika Bernal; several extended relatives that she dearly loved.
Preceded in death by her mother Eufemia Abeyta and father Porfilio Sandoval; stepfather Felix Abeyta; brother Phil Sandoval, sister Helen McManaway.
Services will be held Thursday November 5, 2020, St. Mary’s Church at 12:30 p.m., with interment following at North St. Mary Cemetery. Arrangements made by Boies-Ortega Funeral Home.
