Obituary for Frances Corsentino

Frances Elizabeth Corsentino, 87 of Walsenburg, CO passed away on August 20, 2021, succumbing to the devastation of Alzheimer’s.
Frances was born to Barbara (Hagel) Ehlis and Andrew Ehlis in Mandan, ND on December 13, 1933. She later moved to Yakima, WA with her mother and siblings after her dad’s passing in 1944. Frances graduated from high school in 1952 and worked primarily as a bank teller in Yakima area. Frances met Joe Charles Corsentino in 1956 while he was stationed with the Army in Fort Lewis, WA. On March 2, 1957, they married in Yakima and afterwards traveled to Walsenburg to begin their lives together.
Frances is survived by her husband Joe C. Corsentino, daughter, Brenda Scott (husband Bryan), Castle Rock, CO and son, Brett Corsentino (wife Nancy), Walsenburg, CO. She is also survived by grandchildren Kristen Corsentino, Kimberly Bonicelli (husband Grant), Karley Corsentino, Kaylee Corsentino, Jennifer Scott, Brandon Scott, great grandchildren Laker Corsentino, Llou Ella Corsentino, Isabella Bonicelli and Lucca Bonicelli. Frances had 12 siblings, 11 preceding her in death. She is survived by her youngest sister, Lillian Ehlis Joslin (husband Lonnie) of Yakima, WA.
Love of her family was at the core of who Frances was. When Joe met Frances in 1956, he knew after the first date she was going to be his wife. Her family became his family. Joe was the love of her life. Little did she know about the trials and tribulations of farm life. She and Joe worked long and hard to make their life a success. Her heart and soul were with Corsentino Dairy from the day she married Joe. During the early years of marriage and raising her kids she worked tirelessly on the farm while also holding down a full-time job. She worked in banking for many years and held various positions at local banks. She trained and mentored many who went on to bigger and better things in their careers. She took pride in those relationships.
Frances was a loving, strong, giving, matter of fact person. Her husband and children were her pride and joy. Her compassion and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren are what kept her going after her Alzheimer’s diagnosis. In the years after she stopped working, Frances found joy supporting all her grandchildren and was always there for the meaningful events and life’s milestones.
When Frances was young, she loved roller skating and dancing. She and Joe loved to go dancing for many years. They fit together like a hand and glove on the dance floor. She was particularly fond of German polkas. She established friendships in the community that were there for many years to come. Through the years she enjoyed playing community softball, volleyball and bowing; activities she was never able to participate in growing up. Her monthly ladies club was something she was part of up until she could no longer participate about a year ago. They were all caring women that she loved, respected, and found value in their friendship.
A special thanks to the staff at Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center, ECU Staff for their care and compassion during the several month Frances was at the facility.
A beautiful soul is never forgotten. "TO LIVE IN HEARTS WE LEAVE BEHIND IS NOT TO DIE.”
Services for Frances will be on Wednesday, September 8 at 10 am at St. Mary’s Church. She will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Delaney Hall next to the church. Arrangements made by Boies Ortega Funeral Home.
